Fantasy Injury Updates: Latest news on Russell Wilson, Joe Burrow, Daniel Jones affecting Week 6 QB rankings

Russell Wilson, Joe Burrow, and Daniel Jones headlined a disastrous weekend for quarterback injuries. They were all knocked out of last week’s games, but Burrow was the only one able to finish his contest. We have the latest news on the injury updates of all three, and how Week 6 fantasy QB rankings could be affected.

Russell Wilson injury update

Wilson suffered a gruesome finger injury on Thursday Night Football against the Rams, and we have some good and bad news for his fantasy owners. The initial thought was Wilson would miss up to eight weeks after he underwent surgery for a ruptured tendon on his right middle finger. However, after successful surgery, doctors now say he has a realistic shot to be back in just four weeks’ time. So, the bad news is he’ll miss at least a month of the season, but his outlook is much better than we first thought, and he could be a factor for your fantasy team as you push for the fantasy playoffs. Not that it really needs to be said, but Geno Smith is now the starting quarterback in Seattle for those in superflex/two-QB leagues. He’s been unimpressive throughout his career, but this is the best skill group he’ll get to work with, and he does have some rushing upside.

We rank Smith as our QB27 for Week 6 against the Steelers, who will likely bully the Seattle offensive line and make Smith’s first start a Seahawks a nightmare. He may be playable down the line based on matchups, but this isn’t the week for him.

Joe Burrow injury update

UPDATE: Burrow “checked out fine,” according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, and was released from a Cincinnati-area hospital on Sunday night.

Burrow was knocked out of the game against the Packers after diving for a first down, but he was able to return to action all the way into overtime. However, he was taken to the hospital after the game with a possible throat contusion, which obviously sounds worrisome. We aren’t going to speculate on his status, so stay tuned for further updates. NBC’s Mike Florio reported during the Sunday Night Football telecast that Burrow thinks he’ll be fine.

If everything is OK with Burrow, he could be in line for a great day taking on Detroit in Week 6. He rank him as our QB10 this week.

Daniel Jones injury update

Jones took a scary hit against the Cowboys and was woozy when he got up after trying to plunge for the end zone. Needless to say, he was quickly ruled out of the game and placed in concussion protocol. Again, we can’t and won’t speculate on a concussion, so we’ll have to watch this later in the week.

If he does play, we rank him as our QB13 for Week 6. The Rams’ defense hasn’t been as strong as years past, and Jones has put up three QB1 performances this season. With Saquon Barkley (ankle) out, he’ll likely be back to scrambling on many occasions. If he’s out, Mike Glennon will get the starting nod and will probably be ranked toward the bottom of the list.
